Why is it so easy for so many people to believe in evolution? Why it is that so many people find it easy to say, there is no God? Why is it so easy for so many people to say if there really is a God why does He allow so much sickness, so much evil, so much hunger, so much pain etc? Why, many say, does God let bad things happen to good people, like untimely death by sickness, by hurricanes, by tornadoes, by floods, by fire, by auto accidents, by plane crashes, by earthquakes etc? Why do so many people refuse to believe in God because they can’t see Him, because they do not see Him perform miracles, because the astronauts have not seen God etc?

Now, my question, what if all these agnostics and atheists are right? They die and nothing happens. They have lost nothing. We as Christian die and nothing happens, we, too, have lost nothing but we have gained much. We raised our children to be good citizens, to treat their fellowmen as they would like to be treated. We ourselves have done the same; we have lived good and honest lives and helped other who needed it.

But, what if the agnostics and the atheists are wrong? Then it does not involve only them, think about all those people who are not sure and they even believe in God but never accepted His Son, Jesus as their personal savior. It will be better on that judgment day for that agnostic or atheists than for those who were, say, raised in church and new about salvation but never accepted Jesus Christ. Now a myth that I have even heard Christians subscribe to is that we all serve the same God. This is not true. Just because someone goes to church and pays tithes and supports the church and many other good deeds does not make that person a Christian. Not one of us is good enough to earn his/her way to Heaven. There is only one way to God and eternal life and that is through Christ. There are many false Gods, even false Christ more so today than ever before. Many will leave this world and find out very quickly just how wrong they were. Voltaire, the French philosopher and infidel once said that Christianity would pass into non-existence n one hundred years. In a hundred years, Voltaire has passed into non- existence but as for Christianity was still growing and in the very house that Voltaire lived in was a printing press turning out thousands of Bibles annually.

If the agnostic and the atheist are wrong, they have lost everything. If the person who refuses to accept Christ as their savior, they have lost everything. What about the Christians who have accepted Christ, they have gained everything. And the greatest thing about being a Christian is works did not earn him/her eternal life. Am I saying, all one has to do is confess their sins and accept Christ as their savior is all one must do to earn eternal life? First one does not earn eternal life; it is a gift, bought at a very high price. That price was paid by Christ by dying on a cruel cross not because the Jews or Romans hated him so, but because it was God’s will that Jesus’ death on the cross was the only thing acceptable to pay for the sins of all mankind. Citing not quoting; In the garden of Gethsemane Christ told God as He prayed in agony, that He would that the cup of death pass from Him, but He further said , “Never the less, thy will be done“. Why are so many people willing to take such a tremendous gamble? I never will understand how so many people can deny that there is a God. How someone can see the birth of a new baby and say there is no God. How can someone see a Lily push its way up through the stubborn sod and say there is no God?

I heard a sermon by Adrian Rogers once in which he told a true story that happened in a Bible cemetery , where a math professor told his class to do two things. One to figure out how much money there were in the whole. Secondly, he told them to find out how many birds, of all kind, there were in the world. Of course these would supposedly be educated estimates. After they had done this the professor told them to first, find out how much bird seed it would take to feed all the birds in the world for one day and secondly to determine how much one day’s bird seed would cost. Lastly he requested their conclusion. Their conclusion; there is not enough money in the world to feed all the birds in the world for one day. The professor said to the class, “I was hoping that you would also have concluded that God feeds all the birds in the world everyday.” Jesus said to His disciples; “If I love the Lilies of the field and there is not a king that is arrayed like one of them and if I feed all the birds of the air, how much more do I love you.” (Cited)

I recently read a biography of William Penn and the thing that stood out to me the most is the way that he explained, in such length and detail, how a Christian must take up his/her cross daily and follow Christ. Most of the above is a critique of William Penn and the Quaker Legacy (Library of American Biography Series) (Library of American Biography) by John Moretta (Dec 31, 2006)Penn found religious conversion at age 22 but as he grew stronger in his beliefs, he was persecuted the more. Penn’s first of many pamphlets, Truth Exalted, was a "short but sure testimony" about Quakerism. His early writings led to his charge of publication without a license but the real crime was blasphemy , as signed in a warrant by King Charles II Penn was placed in solitary confinement in an unheated cell and threatened with a life sentence. He bravely responded, "My prison shall be my grave before I will budge a jot: for I owe my conscience to no mortal man.

In 1668, Penn was imprisoned in the Tower of London after writing a follow up tract entitled The Sandy Foundation Shaken. Given writing materials in the hope that he would put on paper his retraction, Penn instead wrote another inflammatory treatise, No Cross, No Crown, remarkable for its historical analysis and citation of sixty-eight authors whose quotations and commentary he had committed to memory and was able to summon without any reference material at hand Penn petitioned for an audience with the King, which was denied but which led to negotiations on his behalf by one of the royal chaplains. He was released after 8 months of imprisonment.

William Penn later went to the colonies where he became very much a statesman but continued his writings about bad laws that wronged mankind.

"Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king...he walked in the ways of the kings of Israel; he also made molten images for the Baals. Moreover, he burned incense...burned his sons in fire...He sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on the hills and under every green tree." - 2 Chronicles 28:1-4 NASB

From a child, Ahaz was taught about God and His Word. Then, as king, he embraced a life of sin and wickedness. Yet Ahaz remained obsessed with religion-making idols, worshiping the Baals, burning sacrifices and incense; in short, just about everything but following the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Finally, there was no hope, and he faced judgment, becoming a prisoner in Damascus.

Some people turn to God when confronted with problems. But Ahaz became even more unfaithful, offering sacrifices to the gods of Damascus.

Many people throughout the ages have been like Ahaz. Although they've been taught the Gospel and know about the Christian faith, they end up rejecting the Gospel and going their own way. Like Ahaz, many of these people embrace empty religious activities or false gods, but not the true God and the Gospel.

In our day, many have rejected Biblical Christianity and pursued Buddhism, Islam, Scientology, and various New Age religions. Others remain addicted to dead religious traditions and empty rituals, but don't have a dynamic relationship with Jesus. Instead of embracing the teachings of Jesus and making Him their Lord, many people are enticed by deceptive spiritual fads.

Kris Kristofferson earned a Rhodes scholarship to Oxford University and received a MA in English only to later become a country western song writer, a musician and an actor. Just think what he could have accomplished for the Lord if he had allowed the words of one of his songs, “Why Me Lord” to govern his life. He is probably better known for his song, Me & Bobby McGee. It is not my intent to judge Kristofferson.

Today, ask God to help you renew your commitment to the Gospel. Don't compromise, but stand for Truth. Be compassionate, but also be bold. Pray for the Lost, and be ready to be a witness.
